Bottoms up! This morning tea will boost more than just your mood
Did you know that it was today that the Ethiopian emperor Selassie banished slavery (88 years ago), that Pineapple cheese was patented (212 years ago), and that good old Christopher Columbus signed a contract with Spain to find a passage to Asia (528 years ago)? Well, me neither! π It is also the birthday of my dear friend Vikki, and the day on which I will eat 1-2 pizzas for lunch, and thus it's a great day to celebrate our sheer existence with all we have. #yeahyeahyeah
If you find yourself now after all this excitement with even the slightest smile on your face, then you've already done a lot to kick-start your immune system. For example, if you laugh out loud for just one minute, your immunity benefits instantly from it, and continues to do so for the next 24 hours. In direct comparison, 1 minute of anger creates the exact opposite effect, and weakens your immunity for 4-5 hours straight.
To explain this phenomena in more medical terms: When you laugh, your diaphragm (a thin skeletal muscle that sits at the base of the chest) becomes a powerful pump for your lymphatic circulation, much like your heart serves as the central pump that propels blood through your blood vessels. This assists the lymphatic vessels in carrying this fluid through your body and helps your lymph nodes to clean and filter this fluid, removing waste products, dead cells, and even unwanted microorganisms! π Maintaining clean body fluids is important because these are necessary for you to be at your best. π Increased lymphatic flow also means an elevated, improved immune system just by the simple nature of more lymph flowing through the nodes, thus producing more antibodies to fight, for example, any viruses that are out there. So if you laugh a lot, it's your easiest way to better health and happiness. π¦π€ΈββοΈπ
In addition, our thoughts and beliefs have a huge role to play in how our body behaves, and responds to ailments and dis-eases. I will write more to this soon, but for starters, watch this 10 minute video by Dr. Joe Dispenza:
At home, apart from actively working towards being happy and positive, Kabir and I swear by a traditional way of immunity boosting based on Ayurveda. It is a tea made out of
- Fresh ginger
- Black Pepper (crushed)
- Cumin (crushed)
- Cinnamon powder
Our man Bhujaun was so kind to share with us how he prepares it. Drink one flask (or more) a day, and you will feel your body thanking you with every sip! Touch wood, we haven't been unwell in a long time, and this concoction is surely one of the reasons for it.
Let me know what your immunity boosting tips are, how the tea is working for you, and if you also had pizza for lunch.
With love from Goa,
