How a 5000 year old Mantra could have changed world history - if the right person had just listened
Good morning world…
and to everyone on it! 🌿
Now that the Pentagon released U.F.O. videos, it is polite to wish these guys a good start into the day, too 👽.
Throwback Thursday - History Edition 🤓
Many things happened today that changed the course of history, and most probably has impacted the way we live today in more than just one way:
1. In 1945, Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun committed suicide in their Berlin underground bunker... if they did not make it to Argentina or the South Pole like so many believe. 🦋 The official story says that when Allied troops encircled Berlin, and the hope to win the war diminished completely, Hitler poisoned his wife, his German Shepard "Blondie" and himself. His relationship with substance abuse however was nothing new. According to German researcher Norman Ohler, author of "Blitzed - Drugs in Nazi Germany", Hitler was was massive drug addict, propelled by morphine and amphetamines into a world of delusion for years, kind of resulting in WW2. What a guy, what a mess - and what a great book!
2. George Washington, the reluctant president (he actually just wanted to retire, read, and chill with his wife at home, and then had to be persuaded to do the job) was inaugurated as first president of America (1789). In his two terms in office, he laid the foundation for the country's political structure of today, and his famous farewell speech is one of the most reprinted documents in American history. 🕊️
3. Jean of Arc, the French national heroine, led her country's Army at age 18 (what bums we were at this age 🙈) to victory over the English at the battle of Orléans (1430). The Brits managed to capture her, and burnt her at the stake exactly a year later. Her fate and fearlessness ("I am not afraid... I was born to do this.") impacted many women of her time to stand up for themselves, leading to the first female uprising in France, with the result that women were allowed to legally fight in the army and wear mens cloths - just like her.👏
Just like George Washington and Jean of Arc, we all can practise fearlessness, and stand up to the challenges that life hands us.
What are you so afraid of? What are the limits of your life? More than often, it is no one else but us alone who set the limits and constrictions holding us back... based on fears that are sometimes not even our own. Society, parents, company - they all have a role to play, and as fear is as contagious as a virus (hint, hint), we have to maintain our spiritual immunity as much as our physical one. 🌺
Luckily, India's rich past has a wonderful solution for us. Known as the "heart of the Vedas", the maha mrityunjaya mantra is said to uplift people from the trap of failure, and rejuvenate them to think about the purpose of their life. So if Hitler would have dived deeper into his India fascination, and not only stole the swastika, his fate might have changed, too! 😅
The mantra is said to be a healing force that works throughout the world. Maha” which means Great , “Mrityun” means Death and “Jaya” mean Victory which turns into Conquer or victory over death. It is also known as “Rudra Mantra” or “Trayambakam Mantra”, with Rudra referring to Lord Shiva. I found two beautiful, and completely different versions for you to start your day with. One is very warm, calm and uplifting, while the other one is more traditional and impactful, revealing its power when chanted together. Listen to both, and you will HEAR AND FEEL the difference. I love both versions, and listen to them regularly. 💖
Mantra:
Om Tryambakam Yajamahe Sugandhim Pushtivardhanam Urvarukamiva Bandhanan Mrityor Mukshiya Maamritat
Meaning in English:
We meditate on the Three-eyed reality which permeates and nourishes all like a fragrance. May we be liberated from death for the sake of immortality, even as the cucumber is severed from bondage to the creeper.
I wish you a fearless Thursday!
With love from Goa,
Isabelle 🌿
